Our Story
Rich and Judi riding with the colors of Disciple of Jesus Christ was one of the first motorcycle ministries in Connecticut, along with Seed Of Abraham in the early 90’s.
It was decided upon by 8-10 people, who gathered together for a time of fellowship and prayer weekly to start a motorcycle ministry; because most of us were bikers. In 2000, we started to put together the mission, requirements, colors and the name of the ministry. We became official in March 2001 as Servants Of Christ motorcycle ministry 3-patch holder in Connecticut as a tax-exempt non profit organization.
We decided on having a bike night to bring the word of God to bikers. It was referred to as cruise night for motorcycles. We received sponsors from 18 churches and businesses for our first cruise night, which was held at Actor’s Colony Inn. We had the desire to do this, however we did not have any sound equipment. Then, GOD showed up and put it together for us.
This is how it went - I went to a car show. Just as I was leaving, around 10 pm I met Gilles. I told him about our cruise night and he said that he had sound equipment that we could use. Gilles, Diane Langevin and their son Michael are French Canadians and they have a street ministry. They provided the sound system, cut a CD with Christian music for us and gave a gospel message for our first bike night. Praise the Lord! At that first event we had a bike show, 15 bikers, trophies, Christian music CDs, 50/50 to support Teen Challenge and a drug rehabilitation center for men and women. From then until now, it’s been an amazing journey. We have a wonderful group of members and an average of over a hundred bikers attending our bike nights. Thanks to GOD and HIS servants; Gilles, Diane and Michael for getting us started.
